Two men are in custody following a random shooting spree in and around Sayre.
Beckham County Sheriff Scott Jay said there is no motive in the morning shootings. There were at least three separate incidents, he said, including one where the suspects allegedly fired at a moving vehicle. A fourth possible incident is being investigated in Roger Mills County. Jay said there could have been shots fired into a house there.
No serious injuries were reported.
Deputies arrested Derek Beers and Jacob McCane Wednesday morning, shortly after reports of the shootings came in. Jay said both are in their mid-20s and live near Elk City/Merritt area.
The two allegedly shot at a semi truck that was in the area of State Highway 6 and Cemetery Road, north of Sayre. Jay said the front windshield of the truck shattered, causing minor injuries to the driver.
Vehicles at Doug Gray Ford in Sayre were hit, as well. Local police are handling that investigation.
Both were arrested at a house in an area north of the Flying W Guest Ranch. A deputy spotted the suspects' white four-wheel drive truck outside of the house.
"An officer saw that truck there, so we converged on that house and took them into custody," Jay said, adding the arrests occurred without incident.
Officers are currently searching for a rifle.
Jay commended the Elk City Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and his own deputies for their collaboration in the case.
