Fire causes power outage across Elk City

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. a fire at the electric substation at Falcon Road and Seventh Street caused a power outage to parts of Elk City, mostly affecting customers on the west side of town.

The Elk City Police Department said that an estimated 2,500 customers are offline at this time, according to PSO. PSO expects the outage will continue until at least 5 p.m. today before power is restored.

The fire is under control.
