It was a father-son affair this past weekend at Elk City Golf and Country Club’s championship.
Russ Smith posted a pair of 67s to become ECGCC Club Champion, and his father, Ronnie Smith, posted two 73s to win the Senior Club Championship.
Russ Smith edged out defending champion Joby Gray, who shot 69-70 to tie Andrew Albert (67-72) for second place.
After placing second last year to Ann Cowan, Haley Gunkel posted a pair of 74s to win ECGCC’s Women’s Club Championship. Cowan, who shot 78-75 on the weekend, was relegated to the runner-up role this year.
Last year, the ECGCC Club Championship enlisted just 16 golfers, but for 2012 it signed up more than 60 entrants, mainly because of the addition of the senior flights.
The winner of the Super-Senior flight (age 61 and over) was Grady Lantz, who posted an 85-81.
