Q&A: Emma Gunnell

Elk City senior softball player Emma Gunnell answered a few questions after the Elkettes’ Tuesday scrimmages at the Leedey High School Team Camp.

1. Are you a “lead by example” player or one who leads vocally?

“In a way, I’m more of a lead by mouth person, because I do like to talk a lot. I like to make sure everything is together and help out with anything I can do. I also try to lead by example, not just on the field but outside of school.”

2. What are you involved in outside of school?

“Just other sports and community work. With groups in our school, like Key Club and Interact, we did some service projects. We bought Christmas for someone this year. It just shows you care about other people and not just yourself. “

3. What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?

“I’m excited about having a new group of girls to play with, and experiencing a new outcome in our sport with them. I’m excited about our new coach [Lindsey Mudgett] and learning things from her and the rest of our coaching staff.”

4. What can the team improve in these early scrimmages at Leedey’s Team Camp?

“Just playing together and not focusing all about ourselves. We just need to stay as a team and not individuals. “
