A native of Orange, Texas and a resident of Youngsville, Lousiana, Melvin Barrios passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Lafayette General Hospital at the age of 67. 

He was a member of the Doric 205 Morgan City F.&A.M. and was preceded in death by his parents Thaddeus and Hattie Mae Melancon Barrios.

He is survived by one son Melvin Paul Barrios and his wife wife Joani Barrios; two daughters Kim Stroup and her husband Ronnie Stroup, and Mindy Andrews and her husband Robert Andrews; two brothers, John Barrios and Troy Barrios and his wife Martha Barrios; two sisters Kathy Shafer and her husband Guy Shafer, and Pat Audirsch and her husband Mike Audirsch; his grandchildren Thad Barrios, Zack Barrios, Austin Barrios, Claire Stroup, Blake Johnson and Chelsea Johnson.

Funeral services were were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Youngsville, Lousiana with Guy H. Shafer officiating. Burial will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
