OKLAHOMA CITY — When stuck in a tough spot, the easiest thing to do is relate to past experiences — a tough thing to do if you’ve never been there before.

Such was the case for the Elk City High School golf team members Wednesday, who began play in their first state tournament experience.

Lake Hefner South Golf Course didn’t make it easy, as howling winds produced anxious minds for ECHS.

The Elkettes shot 422 as a team, and in their own words, were not satisfied with their performances. “They dissapointed in their play today,” ECHS coach Sarah Peffer said. “I think the excitement [of playing at state] and the wind were a huge factor in their scores for the day.”

Paired with Fort Gibson and Seminole, Kelsi Wilson shot 91, Katie Hutson 104, Erin Hutchinson 110, Paige Graham 117, and Tristen Butler a 127 for the day.
