A routine traffic stop early Sunday morning ended with an arrest of an Elk City man suspected of possessing cocaine.
An Elk City police officer initially pulled over a car driven by Kevin Dixon, 39, because the car's expiration sticker did not match the license plate information. The officer wrote a ticket and told Dixon that the car would be impounded because of an expired tag.
When the officer began a search of the car for inventory, he saw a plastic baggy containing a white, chalk-like substance between the seat and console, according to the police report.
Dixon was then arrested and taken to Elk City Jail.
The officer conducted a test on the substance, which indicated the presence of cocaine. The evidence was sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for further testing.
