Elk City Police investigated three cases of vandalism last week that were noted as possible gang activity.

Just after 8 a.m. on Jan. 25, police were called to Walls Bargain Center, located in the 2700 block of west 3rd Street, after it was discovered that someone had spray painted letters and symbols on a wall.

"I observed there to be what appears to be gang related writing on the north outside wall of the building," the officer wrote in a report.

The second appearance of suspected gang writing was reported later that day. The same officer was called to the In and Out Express, located in the 1200 block of Colorado Avenue.

The writing there was similar to the writing found at Walls, and features the same WLA and X3 symbols.

The third case was investigated near the Pioneer Center at Elk City High School. The writing appeared on an east retaining wall.

Like the other two cases that appeared the night before, it contained similar symbols. There was an X3 symbol and the tag at the school said "west LA."

There are no suspects at this time. Damage to the walls are estimated to total $300.
