Woman dead of apparent gunshot wound
Elk City police are investigating an apparent suicide that occurred in Lion's Park Friday morning.
According to police radio logs, 24-year-old Amanda Sake was killed by a gunshot wound to the head. Police believe the incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. Friday morning.
Emergency personnel were called at 10:13 a.m. Friday by the woman's mother, the radio log shows.
Detective David Pruitt with the Elk City Police Department said that Sake was taken by ambulance to the Great Plains Medical Regional Center Emergency Room, and that she still showed vital signs at that time.
Sake was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Pruitt said that Sake had reportedly been involved in a relationship with Victor Redden, who died in an apparent suicide on New Year’s Day of this year.
He could not immediately say if there is any connection between the two deaths.
Pruitt said that they are investiggating Sake’s death as a suicide, but are awaiting a final report from the medical examiner’s office.
