City to remember September 11

Two weeks from Tuesday, City Hall will conduct a Patriot Day Memorial Service, remembering the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The event will take place Tuesday, Sept. 11, in front of City Hall. Government services will shut down at 12:15 p.m. for a moment of silence, as the Elk City Fire Department Honor Guard conducts a flag ceremony.

During last year's service, fire, law enforcement and EMS personnel lined up along the City Hall grounds in memory of those who've lost their lives in the War on Terror. The fire house issued a tone to area fire departments signifying a moment of silence, and the honor guard rang a bell to break that silence.

The Elk City Police Department conducted a 21-gun salute.
