An Elk City man was convicted Thursday of first-degree manslaughter in the death of Patricia Ann Dixon, also of Elk City.

A jury recommended a sentence of 20 years in prison for Jerry Don Davis, 55.

In September 2010, Dixon and Davis were riding on a motorcycle in Oklahoma City when it rear-ended a car. According to The Oklahoman, Davis testified that Dixon  was driving, but the prosecution's expert witness told the jury that only Davis had injuries consistent with someone who would be driving the motorcycle, like a broken arm, broken wrist, broken thumb and cuts on his face. Davis' testimony argued that he was helping by trying to grab the handlebars.

Dixon was ejected 50 feet from the motorcycle and suffered head trauma and road rash, but no injuries to her torso, that would have happened if she had hit the handlebars.

According to prosecutors, Davis was drunk at the time of the crash. The case was handled in an Oklahoma County court.
