The Elk City Commission will meet in an emergency session tonight at 5:30 to consider approving grand money for the airport.
City Hall has received a Federal Aviation Administration grant in the amount of $174,956 to improve the runway and beacon lights. The project was originally bid by Continental Construction at just under $150,000, but engineering costs are expected to push that figure higher.
The meeting Thursday night gives the commission an opportunity to authorize Mayor Teresa Mullican to sign off on the project and accept the grant money. The meeting is open to the public, but there is no public discussion time designated in the agenda.
